about craft
Mising tribal weaving from Assam is a revered traditional craft, known for its vibrant colors and intricate patterns. The Mising community, indigenous to Assam, creates exquisite handwoven textiles using natural fibers like cotton and silk. The designs, inspired by nature and tribal folklore, often feature geometric patterns and motifs. Women primarily weave these textiles on backstrap or frame looms, utilizing age-old techniques passed down through generations.
